About FairWest Public School Squash Association
Our History:
The FairWest Public School Squash Association (FairWest) was formed in 2008 on the backs of active parents, talented players, and public school support. Prior to FairWest, there were pockets of clubs and teams but no formal league to truly develop skilled players. At the same time, a number of public squash facilities started to appear within Fairfield County giving way to the further expansion of squash clubs.
With the help of US Squash, the clubs and teams within Fairfield and Westchester counties were able to connect and form FairWest Squash. Over the years, FairWest Squash evolved from a loosely structured group of squash teams to an organized league with professional training provided at top-notch facilities.
In 2018, FairWest became a 501c3 organization providing additional structure and legitimacy to our mission and our players. Under the guidance of our governance board, we have expanded FairWest to include youth development starting in elementary school. Many of these young players will now have the opportunity to play squash competitively within FairWest and perhaps beyond.
FairWest has supported thousands of student-athletes in their pursuit of competitive squash. Some of our players have been recruited to play at the college level and many more continue to play as young adults after work and on weekends.
At present FairWest has the following leagues and programs: High School Boys league with 3 divisions, High School Girls with 2 divisions, Middle School Co-Ed that has 3 jamborees per season, and Elementary school programs.
Current active members of FairWest Public School Squash Association include the towns of:
Briarcliff Manor, Bronxville, Capital Squash (Hartford), CitySquash (Bronx),
Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, New Canaan, Squash Haven (New Haven), Rye, Scarsdale, StreetSquash (Harlem) and Westport.
